Theme Inspiration for Christmas 2010

Every year I like to change my Christmas Decor's color scheme. I've been known as the crazy Christmas lady for a while, having decor theme from peacocks to fruit to traditional red and green. I normally have 3 trees in my home. I had expanded to family members homes and eventually became a paid seasonal decorator.

This year I've been pondering: What can I choose as a them this year? What will be this years inspiration?

My 2 year old son and I take regular walks downtown to the dollar store. He likes to pick a out a $5 toy and we go home and play with it. Well, on one particular outing I saw this Santa figurine that was my inspiration. It was like an epiphany!

"Peppermint Hot Cocoa" as this years theme! You can see him next to past year's "Blue Frost" inspiration. I liked the Red and White candy colors with an accent of chocolate brown.

Here is my "Blue Frost" Tree, Inspired by the blue angel tree topper:

I loved the icy blue, and for my tree I wanted to emulate the colors of an Alaskan iceberg. To represent the "glowing" blue, I used blue lights. And for the "frost" all bulbs were frosty white or blue clustered on top of a noble fir's branches. I also added pearl bead accents and garland.

I never use my inspirational piece in the decorations, since they are usually cheap and tacky, but they point me into the direction I want to go. And is a good way to get the ball rolling..

Now my hunt is on for....Red, White and Brown, my "Peppermint Hot Cocoa"!!
